4-Eagle Ranch : From guided horseback rides, horse-drawn wagon tours, cattle round-ups, and games of horseshoes and bocce ball, 4-Eagle Ranch is fun for the whole family! Also featuring Vail family activities like Western Family Night and First Thursday Country Dance Night. Located just 24 miles west of Vail in Wolcott, you'll feel as though you've stepped back in time to the Old West.

Back Country Jeep and Hummer Tours : Experience Colorado family fun in the mountains in a whole new way! Ride custom 4x4's through beautiful meadows filled with summer wildflowers and get a glimpse of stunning alpine vistas in half-day or full-day tours.

Beaver Creek Rodeo : Located in Avon, the Beaver Creek Rodeo takes place every Thursday night through the summer season. Beginning at 5:00pm with pony rides and a mechanical bull, the Rodeo is fun for the whole family!

Friday Afternoon Club : Fridays June 21 - August 30, weather permitting. Ride to the top of Vail Mountain via the Eagle Bahn Gondola to enjoy free live music, horseshoes, and drink specials.

Hot Air Ballooning : View the breathtaking Vail Valley from above! Full excursions include 60-75 minutes of flight time, while "A Taste of Ballooning" offers 30-40 minutes of flight time.

Hot Summer Nights:  June 18- August 27. This free summer concert series takes place at Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater on Tuesday nights. New this year, Hot Summer Happy Hour! Arrive early and enjoy food and drink specials from 5:30-6:30pm. Shows start at 6:30pm.

Rock Climbing :  Get a true Rocky Mountain experience on a guided climb with instruction from a seasoned professional. Or, if you don't feel ready to tackle the mountains just yet, try the Lionshead climbing wall at the base of the Gondola.

Segway Tours : Offering both guided tours and unguided rentals, cruise around town in a whole new way! Introduced in Vail during the summer of 2009, Segways are one of the "greenest" forms of transportation. All riders must be 11 years old and at least 75lbs.

Tennis : Whether you are looking for fun with the whole family or wanting to improve your swing, Vail has many tennis courts available, including one right here at Vail Spa! Complimentary rackets and balls are available at the front desk.

Zipline Adventure : Soar at 30mph 100-200 ft above the floor of a Canyon on ziplines that extend from 150 to 1,000 feet! Or, extend the action and dare to challenge yourself on the high adventure ropes course.

Summer Camps

The Vail Recreation District invites you to enroll your children into one of their exciting summer day camps! From hiking to river rafting to arts and crafts, children of all ages can gain a hands-on learning experience they will never forget.   • Pre Kamp Vail (30 months to 5 years) June 10 - August 16: Preschool-aged children enjoy learning activities such as arts and crafts, games and daily outings. Location: Golden Peak Children's Center. Drop Off: 8 to 9 a.m. Pick Up: 4 to 5 p.m.
  • Camp Vail (5 to 12 years) June 10 - August 16: Vail's premier day camp invites children to experience all of the activities available in our unique mountain surroundings! Campers can choose from sports, art and science activities, and special outings such as martial arts and swimming. Location: Red Sandstone Elementary School.Drop Off: 7:30 - 9 a.m. Pick Up: 4 - 5:30 p.m
  • Extreme Camp Vail (8 to 13 years) July 5 - August 9 (Fridays ONLY): Adventures include paddling with inflatable kayaks, a trip to Glenwood Caverns and a high-ropes course and zip line challenge, to name a few.
  • Camp Eco Fun (4 to 6 years and 7 to 11 years) June 10 - August 15: This hands-on learning experience focuses on the natural environment of the Vail Valley at the Vail Nature Center and offers crafts and activities which support the weekly ecological theme. Location: Golden Peak Children's Center and Vail Nature Center. Humming Birds : Ages 4 to 6: Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hawks : Ages 7 to 11: Tuesday and Thursday
