Events and Night Life in Vail

Vail is consistently recognized as one of North America's most exciting and vibrant ski destinations, not only for its amazing terrain, but also because of the diverse arts and entertainment options the town has to offer. There's something for everyone including a wide variety of bars, clubs, and restaurants as well as amazing events all year round.


  • Vail Snow Daze is the official winter season kick-off party that features après parties and amazing free concerts all week long. This event happens in mid-December each year. Check our events page for dates and information.
  • The Burton U.S. Open is the world's longest running snowboarding competition, attracting the sports top athletes. This event takes place the first week of March in the Golden Peak Terrain park where you can watch professional riders soar above the half pipe and tear up the Slope style course.   The fun doesn't stop after the lifts close though, this event brings big name bands who play both the Solaris stage and the Ford Park Amphitheatre.
  • Spring Back to Vail bring the winter season to a close with a week long celebration leading up to closing day on the mountain. This incredible April week of festivities includes the World Pond Skimming Championships, races, parties, giveaways, and FREE live concerts!
  • Hot Summer Nights brings FREE live concerts every Tuesday night at 6:30pm from June through August. See your favorite bands, musicians and dancers perform in this intimate outdoor venue with a spectacular mountain backdrop. A truly unique experience!

  • Friday Afternoon Club (FAC) starts the weekends right with mountain fun for all ages at the top of the Eagle Bahn gondola. FAC begins at 5pm on the Talon's Deck at Eagle's Nest. All concerts are free and food, drinks, and lawn games are available for the whole family. Also, enjoy all that Adventure Ridge has to offer. Whether it's the climbing wall, the kids trampolines, the aerial ropes course or the NEW Zip Runner ziplining course FAC at Adventure Ridge provides fun for the whole family.


Cultural Events in Vail

Vail is known for its incredible and abundant year-round cultural events.


  • The Vail Film Festival is a four-day event that happens in late March/early April each year. This is your chance to mingle with filmmakers and see world premiers, the best independent American features, documentaries and shorts, and enjoy a host of parties and forums.
  • Taste of Vail is the first week in April and showcases the Vail Valley's premier restaurants and the best of the best in food and wine. You won't want to miss the Mountain Top Picnic or the Colorado Lamb cook off!
  • Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival opens your ears to glorious sounds as Vail  hosts three of the world's finest orchestras late June through early August. This is a pure celebration of music in the Rocky Mountains as chamber concerts are offered at Vail Mountain School and outdoor concerts are offered at the Gerald R. Ford amphitheater.
  • Vail International Dance Festival in late July through early August, lets you delight in a variety of world class talent in the open-air setting of the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. The festival has included the works of the Paul Taylor Dance Company, Pacific Northwest Ballet, New York City Ballet MOVES, Martha Graham Dance Company and more!
  • Gourmet on the Gore is another chance to enjoy all the tastes the Vail valley has to offer.  This family friendly event located all throughout the Vail village lets you sample the signature cocktails and savory hor d'oeuvres of different local restaurants.  The event caps off on labor day morning where you can enjoy brunch on bridge street and pay as you go for bites and pours from the numerous vendors along the streets.



Après Ski Scene

After a day on the mountain, join the locals for après at one of these great spots:


  • Vendetta's Featuring pizza by the slice, this is the hang out for Vail Ski Patrollers. Located in Vail Village on Bridge Street.
  • The Bully Ranch A local's favorite, famous for the Mudslide and true Colorado Western Cuisine including barbecue and burgers. Located in the Sonnenalp Resort in Vail Village.
  • The Red Lion Opened in 1962, is a Vail landmark! Live music daily and a great deck make this a perfect après ski venue. Located in Vail Village on Bridge Street.
  • Pepi's The après-ski place to listen to live music and find a bit more refined crowd. Located in Vail Village on Bridge Street, Pepi's boasts, "the sunniest deck in Vail Village."
  • Garfinkel's Offers a large deck, après ski entertainment, dining and drink specials. Located in Lionshead near the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola. You're sure to find a fun, lively local crowd here!
  • Bart & Yeti's Don't skip this fun little bar, located in Lionshead. Excellent variety of local and craft beers, burgers, ribs, wings and known for their green chili and onion rings!
  • Los Amigos With one of the best decks in Vail Village, this Mexican restaurant features great margaritas and the perfect viewing area for watching skiers come down Vail’s famous Pepi's face!

Dancing in Vail

Head to Bridge Street in Vail Village for all the late-night action. Here are a few of our suggestions:

  • Shakedown Bar The best place for late-night live music and great drink specials!
  • Samana Lounge  Dance club and lounge featuring the areas best DJs.
  • Vail Underground A favorite late-night dancing spot (get there after 11pm!), a fun underground bar that turns into a full on nightclub!

  • Altitude Billiards and Sports Club Voted Vail's #1 sports bar and featuring a wall of big screen HD TVs. This local's sport bar has pool tables and great food and drink prices too!
  • Vail Ale House Located in West Vail, this bar offers live bands and DJs, pool tables, shuffle board, big screen TVs and comfy booths and couches. This is the destination for beer lovers, featuring over 20 craft beers on tap.
  • The George Located near the covered bridge in Vail Village, this downstairs bar offers pool tables, oversized leather chairs, a pub menu and a cool, laid back vibe.
  • Tavern on the Gore Located on Gore Creek in Vail Village, an "upscale sports bar" with personal TVs at each booth. Great wine and beer selection and a raw bar!
